Every one loves a critic! Potential customers and search engines alike. New customers trying to decide on a purchase especially like reviews because they want a reason to trust the seller and product.
Despite the fact that reviews sell products. Most retailers are terrified of reviews. Some retailers mistakenly think that a bad review is not as good as a positive review.
Customers aren’t dumb. They can tell when a review was written by an obviously disagreeable individual who is prone to complain loudly about anything and everything.
Not All Negative Reviews Are Bad
I like negative product reviews. 5 stars makes me suspicious of a planted review. I’m comfortable with 4 star and 3 star reviews. I like to know what you found out about the product… good and bad. I’m more likely to purchase a product that has negative reviews over 100% positive reviews. Why? Because I like to know other peoples experiences. If I know the issues before purchasing a product; chances are good that these might be issues that bother someone else that don’t bother me. And there might be positive aspects I never thought of that a reviewer might mention in a product review.
People Like to Voice Their Opinion
I grew up within Chicago proper and it always seemed to me that everyone had an opinion on everything. It also seemed that no matter if the person was a friend, neighbor or random stranger… they were not shy about telling you exactly what they thought on any subject.
Maybe it’s a Chicago thing, or maybe people in general everywhere have strong opinions and are willing to share them with anyone unable to make a quick get away 🙂
Reviews Can Help Your Website’s SEO and Reach More Top 10 search Results.
Search engines love product reviews because product reviews are fresh content regularly updated. Even more important, search engines view product reviews as “organic content”. Organic in this context means it is not skewed content by the website owner to positively reflect the website. Your website can not get better SEO content than non-biased customer reviews.
Another great thing about non-solicited non-biased customer reviews are keywords. One of the trickiest parts of optimizing a website is determining keywords. Analytic code will tell you about website visitors and how they found your website.
Customer reviews are a way to find new ways of describing your products and services in order to capture new customers and clients for your products and services.
I’ve found a few add on rate and review scripts that are all fairly reasonable for their various costs.
